HomeboundTM ensures that every passenger carrying school bus is checked at the end of each run :

HOMEBOUND™ is programmed to ensure that the school bus driver is locked into the Child Safety Mode. It can be disarmed once all students have disembarked. Many school bus routes end miles from the depot. Why wait and waste time until the school bus has returned to discover a sleeping child. Just imagine the terror and anxiety (all preventable) for the child, parents, school officials, bus contractors, and police.
Programmed to use the existing rear exit warning system, your assurance that the exit system is operating as the law requires. A dedicated switch located in the rear can also be used to disarm the system.
Allows a mechanic or a driver of a non-school bus activity to by-pass the child safety check. This feature is very important for uninterrupted mechanical repairs and relocation of vehicles.
Provides a controlled minimum cool down period for any bus equipped with a turbocharger, resulting in reduced repair costs to expensive engines.

An easy and economical way to ensure that your school bus driver always checks their bus before exiting.

- Easy to install instructions are enclosed allowing the installer to use rear door exit switch as the disarm method, reducing installation time in many models of buses.

- How does Homebound™ model 3000 work once installed ?

The School Bus can be used for normal functions without interruptions. The driver will arm the system by activating the overhead warning lights. When the passengers have all exited, the driver will turn off the ignition an internal buzzer will sound to remind the driver to check their bus. The driver must go to the rear of the bus to push the disarm switch. Disarm switch is either a dedicated rear switch or interconnection w/ existing rear switch. If the driver ignores or fails to disarm the at the end of a school run the internal buzzer will remain on. An optional relay kit and switch can be added to blow the horn when the passenger exit door is opened. An optional relay kit is available to turn the dome lights on when the ignition is turned off and will remain on until the disarm switch at the rear is pushed. Simple to install, providing the driver with a regimented child check procedure.

- How does Homebound™model 4000 work once installed ?

The school bus can be used for normal functions without interruption.

Homebound™model 4000 provides the patented 5 minute arm delay allowing a mechanic or a driver of a non-school bus activity to by-pass the child safety check. This feature is very important for uninterrupted mechanical repairs or vehicle relocation.

When the driver activates the overhead warning lights, the arming circuitry counts down as long as engine is running after 5 minutes, Homebound™is armed.

The driver has two disarm choices once all students have disembarked:

1 - Even though the bus may be many miles from the bus depot, the driver can disarm the device by pushing the dash mounted switch on Homebound™to begin the disarming procedure, then within 30 seconds the driver must walk to the rear to push disarm switch.

2 - Upon returning to the bus depot, the driver can push the dash mounted switch to begin disarm procedure. The engine can be shut off or left on. Now the driver has 30 second to walk to the rear and push the rear disarm switch.

* Please note that the following will occur if the driver fails to complete the correct disarm procedure:

If the driver shuts the engine off and opens the front passenger door to exit, the horn will sound because the device is still armed. The only way to correct this error is to restart the bus and complete the correct disarm procedure.
